Joanne M. Maguire is executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company and also an officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation. As the most senior Space Systems official, Ms. Maguire is responsible for the business operations and activities of approximately 18,000 company employees located in Sunnyvale, Calif.; Denver, Colo.; New Orleans, La.; Newtown, Pa; San Diego and Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.; Harlingen, Tex.; McLean, Va.; and Cocoa Beach, Fla. |
Ms. Maguire was appointed deputy and vice president of Space Systems Company in July 2003. In this capacity she assisted the executive vice president of Space Systems with the full range of general management duties. Previously, she also served as the company's vice president, special programs, focusing on sensitive national security space system developments.
Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Ms. Maguire served as deputy and vice president of business development for TRW Space & Electronics (S&E), now Northrop Grumman Space Technology, which included responsibility for the business development function, overseeing strategy formulation, program development, marketing and communications, technology development and discretionary investment.
Previously, Ms. Maguire was vice president and general manager of S&E's Space & Laser Programs Division and also served as vice president and general manager of S&E's Space & Technology Division. Other senior positions included deputy general manager of S&E's Defense Systems Division and program manager for the Defense Support Program. She joined TRW in 1975 and rose through a succession of increasingly responsible technical and management positions, participating broadly in space system design and development activities.
Ms. Maguire earned her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University and a master's degree in engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is a graduate of the executive program in management at UCLA's Anderson School of Management and completed the Harvard Program for Senior Executives in National and International Security. Ms. Maguire serves as a director on the boards of Space Foundation and INROADS, Inc. She is a member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Society of Women Engineers. |
